As a blogger, I’m sure you will understand that sometimes things get tough, I experience it every so often and that problem is finding inspiration for content to post on your blog. With so much content on the web and the idea you have thought of most likely already written about, you want to think of something that is unique to you and write it the way you want to. You firstly have to find ideas and that can sometimes be hard. Here a list that I have put together that you may want to try to help you generate ideas:

Thinking

Go Walking
Taking a complete break from what your doing, saving what you have done and going back to it later will give your mind a chance to get some information back in it, ready to be unloaded onto your website. This one personally for me is a great way of making sure I know what I am going to write. It seems taking a break lets you get your thoughts in order. On your travels you might see something that generates an idea for a blog post.

Relax with some Music
It’s time to take a moment to sit back and relax from everything, put some of your favourite songs from your playlist on and listen to the song. This will give your mind the time to chill out and do nothing before you return to write.

Do these above two both on the go! You can go for a walk and put your mp3 player in!

Watch Television
Starting with television, seeing what is happening in the world can intrigue your mind to writing about it. You may see something you see on television and it will spark your brain onto an idea, then hopefully this will get the ball rolling. It’s also good just to just watch TV with a nice Pizza.

Read Around
Nothing gets your ideas going like reading other blogs. Reading other blogs and taking ideas from what they have written and writing new content about it. Also read the latest newspaper or books as they contain information that will help you generate ideas.

Talk with others
Talking with others will help you think of ideas; ask them if they have any things they would like to read about. If you like their ideas then write about it! Another helpful practice is commenting on other blogs, see what others are talking about in comments/forums and see what they have a current ‘Buzz’ about. If you can write about that, then they are surely going to read it.

Mind Mapping
Do you remember doing this at school? If you didn’t, it’s a very effective way of creating ideas, Darren Rowse of Problogger writes about effective mapping here.

Write a Follow-Up Post
Similarly as I did with ‘Commenting Follow-Up‘, you can refer to an older post and maybe make a change or notify users of something different about it.

If you are continuously blogging about the same niche, or content that is related take a step back from it and write something totally different. Your mind will be fighting to write down all those other ideas you have locked in your head.

Finally…

What are You looking for?
When you visit other blogs, what are you visiting for? What are you enjoying reading? Think from your mind, and write about what you would love to see if you were a reader. Don’t be scared to write about anything, making changes and posting fresh content is great thing.

Hope you find these useful!
