Wordpress.com is great for beginners and non commercial bloggers and if that's all you ever intend to do it's probably more than adequate and they do well enough in the search engines if the content is good.

The restrictions on things like javascript and monetization leave it dead in the water for many people though. Wordpress.com do not allow much room for making money directly from a free blog and in that respect, Blogger is a little more suited.

Overall though, Wordpress installed on your own domains is the way to go if you have any kind of commercial aspirations. It's just so hugely customizable and way more than just a blogging platform

I was wondering how many bad things you could say about free hosting, I actually like wordpress.com allot, if they would only add a few more plugins and themes to choose from I would be set.
