Desire Is Hunger
Posted on January 18th, 2008 in Blogging Tips |
Believe it or not, this post’s title was thought of whilst listening to Cascada - Because The Night.
This post coincides with the post ‘Set Out Your Tasks‘ as setting out your tasks will help with your desires.
When you create your blog, you desire many things from it. Without your input and hard work then nothing will come of it. I have comprised a list of points that outlines main things that you may wish to relate to in the growth of your blog. If you desire these then your blog will definitely grow. You may wish to add some points (feel free to comment), but here is the list:
- Desire for more RSS Subscribers
Getting your RSS Subscriber count rising is very hard. It will most likely take a long whilst if your a new blog, but a blog created by someone who has already established themselves in the blogosphere will generally grow quicker. You need to make sure you expose your RSS Feed button and shout it out to your visitors to subscribe to your feed. Going from 1 to 100 RSS subscribers is much harder than going from 100-1000 they say.
- Desire to Earn your First $10? $100? Or maybe even $1000?
Most bloggers have the desire to earn money from your blog, you need to start thinking about the amounts that you would really be happy with earning and minimum you would be happy with. If you do this then you will surely see the amounts growing without you even noticing. You will want to also promote your selling private adverts where possible, if you have a 125×125 button at the side of your website for sale, say so! Don’t let the advertiser come to you, you the publisher go to them.
- Desire to Be Known
You see many professional bloggers (ProBlogger.net, JohnChow.com, ShoeMoney.com) being talked about all the time, the methods they use and what they have done for all their visitors. Everyone who owns a blog would love to be like that. You need the desire to work on branding yourself. Promoting your blog as much as you can can fulfil this desire. It will take a long time but stick at it. To increase being known, being part of more communities, including submitting your articles to social networking sites more will help other discover your website.
- Desire to Increase your PageRank
If you want to increase your pagerank on for example Alexa, here is a very useful article. Here is another website that will help you increase your Google pagerank. If you want to increase your pagerank on Technorati, here is a useful article.
- Desire to Post more
If you desire to post more, your blogs content amount and quality will increase. Ever heard of the saying ‘practice makes perfect?’ The more you post the quicker you will learn and you will have more opportunity to increase the popularity of your blog.
- Desire to Expand
Expanding by creating a new website, or more than two websites gives you the opportunity to reach out to more people and hopefully increase your revenue and your status on the web. Make sure you are prepared for this, and that you will not neglect your other websites. If you are unsure about anything then you should not launch another website until your other websites are running effectively.
Desires bring rewards so make sure you try your hardest to keep going.
These are certainly my desires; have any more of your desires to add? Comment on this post.
