Commenting Does Make A Difference
Posted on January 10th, 2008 in Blogging Tips |
Do you sometimes read a blog and you do not leave a comment on a post? I think you probably should.
As I learn more and more ways of promoting my blog to try and gather more readers, I try methods of advertising, but without a high budget I struggle to actually pay for traffic. I have recently started posting a lot on well known blogs and it has started to make a difference. Take for instance John Chow’s very successful blog in which has earnt over $27,000 a month and has around 15,000 RSS subscribers. This is the perfect audience to try and get your blog noticed by.
John Chow has a very nice plugin installed on his blog, where he allows regular comment posters on his website to gain recognition. It is a perfect plugin for enticing readers into posting on your blog. It certainly worked.

As you can see my commenting on John Chow has placed me on his Top Commentators section. Even websites that do not have this plugin installed, you should still comment because the comments form allows you to input your website address and when someone reads your comment, your name is hyperlinked to your website. Success another link to your website!
I’ve recently (like two days ago) started using Google Analytics for Thatblogsite and I can see the impact of this comment posting straight away.

I expect in the future for referrals from comments I post on blogs around the blogosphere to rise. Just remember if you are going to comment, do not post spam, the blogs wont like that and neither will other readers. So what are you waiting for? Go comment and do not forget to leave one here first please!
I will post a follow up post to this soon to see how the statistics have changed.

Traffic is good, and more is better. Thanks for writing about a low cost method for bringing more of it in.
No problem, glad you found the article useful.
Good tip thanks for sharing and stopping over at my site.
Cheers.
Here’s a tip for you so far as the Top Commentator plugin goes. Many blogs that use it reset at the beginning of the month. This is an ideal time to get on as many as you can since the number of comments will be lower.
Also, just getting on there once, even for a short period of time, will boost your Technorati rating. The same is true of blogs that are ‘do follow’ although this will last longer.
Thank you for that addition Frank.
Hi Carl!
I have installed the same plugin in order to give back something to the people who take the time to comment on my blog, think it works like a charm!
Not sure if I am mistaken, but,… you changed your theme, right? Looks really nice… zenlike
Keep up the good work!
It’s a great plugin to have, I have changed the theme and edited it a lot. I’m just finding the way I like it and I’m hoping to start stringing some nice posts together. Thanks for commenting.
