Posted on January 31st, 2008 in Blogging Tips | No Comments »

Firstly, if you don’t know what Entrecard is then check out this post, and don’t forget you can win 400 Entrecard credits in my competition.

If your looking to drop your Entrecard on many blog sites, SiteHoppin will let you with a simple-1-click, allow you to browse all websites with an Entrecard on. There are many categories you may wish to target and once you have chosen, you can visit a different web page each time and drop your card.

SiteHoppin

You can create an account at SiteHoppin and recommend your website as well as other people’s websites and then you can discuss that website to. There are many options to customise your search and find your targeted audience.

Don’t have to Click, just Press Play on Slideshow!
A great feature of SiteHoppin is the availability to load a different website every 5 seconds in Slideshow mode. You just press play and a new website loads and gives you time to drop your card. If you want more time to look at that website, just simply click stop and you are free to continue your reading.

Dropping your card is a great way of getting traffic and dropping just got easier!

Let’s Link to Other Blogs!

Posted on January 30th, 2008 in Blogging Tips | 2 Comments »

I’ve learnt quite a lot in my time blogging and there is still a lot to learn but one thing I suggest you do is have a weekly post where you throw as many links to other blogs in there as you can! The results you will get back are very nice.

Sunday 27th January

This was this Sunday when I posted my weekly post entitled ‘Sunday Round-Up - Week 4‘ and one of the links I posted brought me that sudden rise in traffic. It may not be a lot of traffic, but to me that’s an inspiring thing to see.

Some blogs choose to display Pingbacks which basically shows a link to the blogger that has linked to that post and their blog name. Pingbacks are part of the Linkbacks which show links between documents.

People Love Reading other Posts
Personally when I read comments from time to time, I like to read what others have written about that post or the same topic, and if you write your post and link to another blog, you are offering people that are doing the same the opportunity to read yours.

Not to Much
Regular posts with huge amounts of links in can become a bit ugly so unless you’re specifically writing about links limit yourself to the amount you put into a post. On the other hand as I said, if you are actually writing about links, put as many as you want about the posts you like and what you think others will like. :)

Choosing what Articles You Link
It seems pretty obviously that you will choose to link to very popular blogs. If you take my example of me linking to TheRatingBlog through my post, with the huge amount of visitors that are posting comments on his page (currently 138) you are exposing your blog to large amounts of traffic. Although don’t just stick to the big guns, link to any post that you find interesting. This is the most important part, giving authors ‘link love’ is a good thing to do, after all if people link to your posts, you would like it.

Subscribe, Watch and Post
To know what you are going to write about you will want to subscribe to blogs, read content and make a list of the posts that you want to put in your post. Think of a nice weekly post title and add the links, a brief description and let your readers know about the wonderful things you’ve read that week.
